Full text of eulogy at the memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

Dear compatriots, comrades, soldiers nationwide and international friends!

Dear family of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong!

Today, in deep emotion and sorrow, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, together with compatriots and soldiers nationwide, our compatriots abroad, international friends and family, solemnly held a memorial service and sent off comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - an exceptionally outstanding leader, a shining example of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, a loyal communist party member with great prestige of our Party, State and People, the full embodiment of the qualities, talent, mettle and intelligence of the generation of Vietnamese leaders in the renovation period to his final resting place.

Comrade's passing is a great and irreparable loss to our Party, our Nation, and our People. Our country has lost a talented leader; the world communist and progressive movement has lost a sharp theorist; international friends have lost a sincere friend and close comrade; the family, clan, and homeland of Dong Hoi have lost an outstanding son.

With nearly 60 years of rich and persistent revolutionary activities, Professor, Doctor, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with his profound and sharp intelligence, has left the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army with a valuable system of ideology and theory on the path of the Vietnamese revolution in the new era. Firmly and creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, with the goal of national independence and socialism, thinker Nguyen Phu Trong, the theoretical flag of the Party, has clarified the theory of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, the role of the Communist Party, and the socialist-oriented market economy...

That invaluable heritage has strengthened the strong belief in the path to socialism, made important contributions to the development of the communist movement in the world, and developed Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought in the present era.

With a strategic vision of the international situation in the contemporary world, with constant efforts to contribute to maintaining and preserving a peaceful and stable environment in the region and the world, he opened a new chapter in the relationship between our country and international partners, promoted the friendship between Vietnam and other countries, increased Vietnam's contributions through many commitments and practical actions, closely combined national strength with the strength of the times, and brought our country forward strongly.

Throughout his revolutionary career, the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system held a particularly important position for comrade Nguyen Phu Trong.

Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought on Party building, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has deeply clarified the nature of the Party and the building of a ruling Party from the practice of innovation in Vietnam.

Since then, he and the Central Executive Committee have planned and led the successful implementation of strategic policies on Party building and rectification; resolutely and persistently fighting against individualism, ideological, moral and lifestyle degradation, and corruption and negativity within the Party.

This is an extremely arduous and difficult war against "internal invaders" that makes our Party increasingly clean and strong, affirming its pioneering role, bravery and intelligence, so that our Party can truly "be moral and civilized".

Under his leadership, for the first time our Party issued a specialized resolution on building and perfecting the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, and for the people.

As President and Chairman of the National Assembly, he is always concerned with the issue of building a legislative body that is truly the highest authority of the people, truly democratic and represents the legitimate rights and interests of the people.

Perfecting the legal system to be synchronous, unified, public, transparent, and feasible, creating a solid legal corridor for proactive, deep, comprehensive international integration and strong national development.

Imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology, deeply aware of the important position and role of culture, "Culture is the soul of the nation", "If culture exists, the nation exists", the great culturalist Nguyen Phu Trong has devoted much enthusiasm and made especially important contributions to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, truly the spiritual foundation of society, an endogenous strength, an important driving force for national development.

Under his leadership, after more than 70 years, our Party has organized the National Conference on Culture - a milestone connecting the thoughts and actions of the entire Party, people and army, strongly promoting the role of culture to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

With profound and sharp political vision, he raised strategic thinking, creating new developments for Vietnam's national defense, security and foreign affairs.

That is the idea of ​​protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, defending the country when it is not yet in danger; always focusing on building a position of people's hearts, building a revolutionary armed force that is elite, compact, strong, truly clean and strong; the Army and the Police are united like "two wings of a bird", like "a sword and a shield", joining hands, unanimously, overcoming all difficulties, hardships, sacrifices, maintaining peace and stability to develop the country.

Promoting the pioneering role of comprehensive diplomacy, forming and effectively leading the implementation of the art of diplomacy of the new era imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo" on the basis of the Vietnamese character of "Responding to all changes with constancy", "peaceful and filial", "replacing violence with benevolence".

Under his leadership, Vietnam has become a reliable partner, an active and responsible member in the international arena; continuously integrating deeply and comprehensively into international politics, the world economy and human civilization.

Throughout the ideology of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is the People, the human being, wholeheartedly serving the People, building new socialist human beings and constantly consolidating great solidarity and unity, first of all solidarity and unity within the Party, great solidarity of the entire nation and pure international solidarity.

He is always determined to plan and successfully implement all policies and strategies that are in line with the people's wishes; firmly maintain the stance, viewpoint and practice of "people are the root", "people are the subject and center of the innovation process".

A true, sincere and righteous communist always keeps in mind and requires the entire Party and the entire political system to "have the highest responsibility to the people, care for the material and spiritual life of the people", "close connection with the people is the law of existence, development and operation of the Party, is the decisive factor creating the strength of the Party".

Throughout his life, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has persistently devoted himself to the revolutionary cause of our Party and people with a spirit and will of steel, never retreating in the face of obstacles and difficulties; with a sense of responsibility and revolutionary enthusiasm, working until his last breath, wholeheartedly, wholeheartedly, and devotedly to the Party, the country, and the people; affirming a great personality, living his entire life for the country, the Party, and the people.

Comrade is truly a typical, exemplary, shining example of pure revolutionary character and ethics, "impartiality", simple lifestyle, integrity, sincerity, democratic working style, dedication, science, closeness, determination, consistency between words and actions, respect and love for people, very close to the people; truly the nucleus gathering solidarity, intellectual unity of our entire Party, people, and army, respected, trusted and proud of by cadres, party members, people, and compatriots abroad, and appreciated and highly appreciated by international friends.

We respectfully honor and deeply appreciate the immense contributions and contributions of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong to the cause of national construction, development and defense of the Vietnamese Fatherland during the period of renovation.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions and achievements, the Party and State respectfully awarded him the Gold Star Order, the most noble award; but above all, he forever belongs to the Fatherland and the People.

Dear spirit of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong!

Today, we are here, together with our compatriots and soldiers nationwide, our compatriots abroad, and international friends, to deeply mourn and send off our comrade to the eternal world, to the glorious history of the civilized and heroic Vietnamese nation.

Comrade has passed away, but his name and career, his merits and contributions, his talent and virtue will shine forever in the glorious history of our Party and our nation, in the gratitude of our cadres, party members and people, and in the affection of international friends.

Farewell to you, comrade, the leader who embodies the dignity and personality of the Party, the embodiment of peace, unity and progress; the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army vow to wholeheartedly carry out your wishes, engrave in our hearts the advice "If you are human, be a Communist", wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, and firmly follow the path that the Party, Uncle Ho and previous generations, including you, have chosen.

Solidarity, unity, joint efforts, consensus, seizing opportunities, overcoming challenges, building our Party and political system to be truly clean, strong and comprehensive, our people will have a prosperous and happy life, contributing to building a progressive, civilized and ethical world.

The legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will live forever in Vietnamese history, and will be inherited and further promoted in the renovation process; successfully realizing the goal of building a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam that he cherished, strived for, and sacrificed for all his life.

In infinite sorrow, we sincerely send to the family of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong our deepest condolences for the irreparable pain and loss.
