Toc Tien is loved for her ability to 'transform' herself.

Having achieved great success with EDM (a branch of electronic music), Toc Tien suddenly switched to sentimental ballads. Then, from a fiery pixie haircut to a gentle bob. Tien's fans are constantly changing, but overall, it creates excitement.

Most recently, her song "Is There Anyone Who Loves Me Like You Do?" (#CATENA) was honored in the Song of the Year category at the 2019 Dedication Awards, and she (Tien's nickname for her fans) was once again elevated by young people as a role model for a civilized lifestyle.

Tóc Tiên was voted by teenagers as a role model for a healthy lifestyle.

"You're Not the Only One" is quite catchy, with a beautiful melody and memorable lyrics. After its release, it immediately sparked a "choose your heart or your mind" debate among young fans. Audience member Le Thu Hoa commented: "I've listened to this song a hundred times and I still don't get tired of it." Phuoc Vinh Nguyen affirmed: "I'm a fan of hers. Every day I play this song loudly for the whole room to hear." Anna T. Nguyen said: "I listen to it constantly, while working, while showering – basically, I only listen to it when I'm sleeping without replaying it."

Previously, Toc Tien's forte was EDM, but when she switched to ballads, she easily adapted. She played the role so well that "Em khong la duy nhat" (You Are Not the Only One) quickly surpassed her previous hit, "Ngay mai" (Tomorrow). The music video was warmly received by the audience and quickly garnered nearly 5 million views on YouTube.

This wasn't the first shock Tóc Tiên (the affectionate nickname fans use for her) had for her fans. As she explained: "Besides changing myself, I also want to 'set an example' for my students, showing them to always break free from their comfort zones, explore their potential, and see if they can achieve things far beyond their imagination..."

Previously, when Tien decided to abandon her curly hair and glasses for a pixie haircut, many were surprised. Furthermore, Tien dropping out of medical school to pursue a singing career, which caused a rift in her relationship with her mother for three or four years, was also a story that received much media attention.

Regarding these turning points, Tien simply replied: "I may get a few more tattoos, my hair may get shorter and shorter, I may dress more boldly than before, speak more sarcastically and act more rebelliously, but I can't become a bad person, Mom, because I always want to learn how to be kinder, because my good nature has been inherited from my family."

Just two years after returning to Vietnam to build her career, Tien has been able to buy her own house and car, support herself, and establish her image in the domestic music market. Her singing fees and advertising contracts are now being compared to those of "entertainment queen" Ho Ngoc Ha.

Interestingly, none of the boyfriends Tóc Tiên has dated have the looks of a "hotboy." She explains: "I see handsome guys like I'm looking at a statue. Maybe it's because I was exposed to showbiz early, so I've seen all the glitz and glamour. Behind every beautiful appearance, there's a story, sometimes beautiful, sometimes ugly. Therefore, I don't place too much importance on looks. 'Ugly but hardworking' suits me better."

Having started her career early and become independent at a young age, Tien has experienced considerable pressure. During those times, she often travels to relieve stress. Visiting a new place and experiencing a new culture helps to overcome emotional shocks. Tien is so used to traveling that she handles airport check-in and check-out automatically. Therefore, being greeted by fans at the airport once made Tien "truly very touched."
