...Today, in the atmosphere of the early Spring of Quy Mao, Nghe An province solemnly organized the ceremony to celebrate the 1,310th anniversary of the Hoan Chau uprising (713-2023); receive the Certificate of ranking the King Mai Hac De Temple as a special national relic and the King Mai Temple Festival in 2023.

Throughout the history of the nation, Nghe An is considered a "central" land of the country, relied on by many dynasties to fight against invaders, defend the country and build great achievements. Even during the period of fighting against the Chinese domination, this land marked the strong mark of the Hoan Chau uprising 1,310 years ago, associated with the merits of national hero Mai Thuc Loan, overthrowing the domination of the Tang Dynasty, regaining independence and autonomy for the nation after many centuries of being dominated and dominated by the Northern feudal forces.

Mai Hac De, whose given name was Mai Thuc Loan, was born in the year of Canh Ngo (670). Mai Hac De's mother was born and raised in Mai Phu village, Thien Loc district (now Mai Phu commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province). According to legend, after becoming pregnant, she moved to Ngoc Trung village, Dong Liet commune (now Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province) to live. She gave birth to a son and named him Mai Thuc Loan.

At that time, our country was under the domination of the Tang Dynasty. The people were miserable and resentful. In the year Quy Suu 713, in Hoan Chau land (now Nghe An and Ha Tinh), Mai Thuc Loan raised the flag of uprising.

He issued a proclamation denouncing the Tang invaders and calling on the people to rise up and fight against the invaders. With his special military and diplomatic talents, he gathered troops from 32 provinces, allied with the countries of Lam Ap, Chenla, Xao Oa, and Java to fight the invaders. The land of Van An was chosen to build the headquarters of the uprising, along with a system of bases: Ve Son, Hung Son, Thung Son, Bieu Son, and Lieu Son.

With the support of the people in the Lam River basin and surrounding provinces, Mai Thuc Loan and his army quickly overthrew the ruling apparatus established by the Tang Dynasty in Hoan Chau. Seizing the favorable opportunity, Mai Thuc Loan led a large army to liberate the entire Ai Chau (present-day Thanh Hoa), then marched straight to the Northern Delta, surrounded, attacked, and captured Tong Binh citadel (now the capital Hanoi).

The country was free of foreign invaders. Mai Thuc Loan ascended the throne, proclaimed himself Mai Hac De, and proceeded to build a government apparatus from the central court to the local level, issuing many important decrees to build, consolidate, and maintain independence and autonomy, bringing a peaceful and happy life to the people for more than 10 years (from 713 to 723).

The event of Mai Thuc Loan proclaiming himself Emperor and building the country is a strong testament to the aspiration for independence, autonomy, and the will to be self-reliant, free from all constraints and dependence on the Northern feudal powers of the Vietnamese people in general and the generations of Nghe An people in particular. It has been 1,310 years since the Hoan Chau uprising broke out, but the spirit, mettle, indomitable will, and aspiration for independence and autonomy of Mai Hac De and the Vietnamese people still remain valuable.

Mai Hac De's life and career originated from and were closely associated with the land of Nam Dan, which has long been known as "a land of famous landscapes and many heroes", where cultural sediments were created and crystallized over thousands of years of history. The people of Nam Dan have a tradition of humanity and love of learning with many famous learning villages such as Trung Can village, Hoanh Son village, Xuan Ho village, Xuan Lieu village, and Chung Cu village.

In every era, this land has always produced heroes, patriots, and outstanding celebrities who have brought glory to their homeland. In particular, this place has given birth to and nurtured outstanding great men of the times such as Mai Hac De, Phan Boi Chau, and President Ho Chi Minh.

The proud history has built Nam Dan a rich and colorful system of traditional cultural heritage with 173 inventoried relics, of which 42 relics have been ranked: 12 national relics, 26 provincial relics and is the only district-level locality in the country to date that has 4 special national relics including: President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site, Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site, Hoanh Son Communal House and King Mai Hac De Temple.

Along with that are unique intangible cultural heritages of festivals, customs, practices, especially intangible cultural heritage of folk songs Vi, Giam with Vi Phuong Vai singing, Vi Do Dua Song Lam singing... This system of cultural heritage is a testament to the cultural depth of the land and the potential for local economic and social development.

In the joy and pride of the 1,310th anniversary of the Hoan Chau uprising and the opening of the King Mai Temple Festival in 2023, Nghe An province is pleased to receive the Prime Minister's Decision on ranking the Temple of King Mai Hac De as a special national monument.

This is a typical architectural work that people across the country in general and Nghe An people in particular have paid tribute to and worshiped the national hero for centuries.

The complex includes many relics located in the center of the old base of the uprising. The land witnessed the heroic years soaked in blood of King Mai Hac De and his army in the glorious Hoan Chau uprising of the nation.

What is special is that even though it has been more than a thousand years, the relic still exists and goes hand in hand with the unique festival associated with the legends of the famous King Mai Hac De and is held solemnly and sacredly every year, a profound testament to the role and position of Mai Trieu in the hearts of the people as well as the mark of a heroic historical period of the nation.

The Prime Minister's decision to rank the Mai Hac De King Temple as a special national relic not only recognizes and honors the historical and cultural values ​​of the relic, but also establishes a legal and scientific basis for preserving and promoting the long-term values ​​of the relic.

The appearance of urban and rural areas is increasingly civilized and modern, one of the bright spots of the whole country in new rural construction. The lives of people in all regions are gradually and clearly improved.

Traditional cultural values ​​are preserved and nurtured, serving as the foundation for building new values. National defense, security, social order and safety are ensured; foreign affairs are strengthened and expanded. The great national unity bloc and people's trust in the Party and State are increasingly consolidated.
