The General Secretary and President of Laos visits Military Region 4.

On the morning of April 28, during his visit and working trip to Vietnam to attend the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith led a high-level delegation of the Lao Party and State to visit Military Region 4.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Comrade Nguyen Chi Dung - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam - welcomed General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith at Vinh International Airport (Vinh City, Nghe An Province)..

On behalf of the officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Military Region 4, Lieutenant General Tran Vo Dung - Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 4 - briefed on some key aspects of the economic, cultural, and social situation in Military Region 4; and the results of cooperation between Military Region 4 and some units and localities in Laos in the past period.

Over the years, the long-standing tradition of friendship, solidarity, and close ties between the two Parties, two States, armies, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos in general, and Military Region 4 and its units and localities in particular, has continued to be preserved and developed in depth.

The units of the Military Region have successfully carried out their tasks in assisting localities and units in Laos to develop economically, culturally, and socially, strengthen national defense and security, build strong Party and government organizations, and contribute to consolidating the special traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos in the new era.

In the coming period, Military Region 4 will continue to effectively implement the Joint Statement of the leaders of the two Parties and two States; the Protocol on bilateral defense cooperation and the 2025 Cooperation Plan between the Ministries of Defense of the two countries.

Military Region 4 is committed to continuing its utmost efforts to preserve and promote the fine traditional relationship, contributing to nurturing the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam so that it may flourish and bear fruit.

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, sincerely thanked the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Command of Military Region 4 for their warm welcome; and highly appreciated the selfless and heartfelt assistance of the Party, State, and People's Army of Vietnam in general, and the armed forces of Military Region 4, Nghe An province, and Ha Tinh province in particular, to the Lao people throughout their history of building and defending the Fatherland.

The General Secretary and President of Laos affirmed the immense contributions and noble sacrifices of the Party, State, Army, and People of Vietnam to the cause of national independence of the Lao people in the past, as well as to the cause of national defense and construction today. In particular, Military Region 4 has made direct contributions to fostering this special relationship.

The General Secretary and President of Laos also acknowledged the achievements in coordinated activities; and the dedicated contributions and assistance of the 4th Military Region Command and its units to the localities and units of the Lao People's Army over the past years.

Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith suggested that in the coming time, the armed forces of Military Region 4 and units and localities of the two countries sharing a common border should continue to coordinate closely to ensure good political security in the border region, create conditions for the economic and social development of the border area, and contribute to building a deeper solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, States, Armies and peoples of the two countries.
