General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away.
According to information from the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Cadres' Health, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, born in 1944, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, after a period of illness, despite the Party, State, professors, doctors, leading medical experts, etc. devotedly treating him, and his family's wholehearted care, due to old age and serious illness, he passed away at 1:38 p.m. on July 19, 2024 at the 108 Central Military Hospital.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will issue a special announcement on organizing a State Funeral for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong.
