General Secretary To Lam laid wreaths at the Independence Monument, the Monument to the late King Norodom Sihanouk, and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh.
During his State visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the morning of February 6th, General Secretary To Lam laid wreaths at the Independence Monument, the Monument to the late King Norodom Sihanouk, and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh.
Also attending were: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and the high-level Vietnamese delegation.
The Independence Monument is an architectural structure commemorating Cambodia's independence day, honoring and celebrating the Cambodian people who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for their country. It is also the venue where major national ceremonies of Cambodia are often held.

The memorial to the late King Norodom Sihanouk was built to commemorate the late King Norodom Sihanouk (1922-2012), who ruled Cambodia for several periods, through the 1970 coup and the Pol Pot genocide, until Cambodia achieved peace, and then abdicated to King Norodom Sihamoni. The late King Norodom Sihanouk was a great friend of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam.
Near the Independence Monument and the statue of the late King Norodom Sihanouk is the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument, an architectural symbol of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia; built to honor the Vietnamese soldiers who performed a noble international duty, helping the Cambodian people escape the genocide.

The State visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam and the high-level delegation is of great significance. The senior leaders of the two countries will strengthen exchanges, consolidate the foundation of political trust, and promote the effective implementation of agreements reached.
The visit also aims to further deepen the traditional friendship between the two Parties and countries, thereby creating momentum to develop Vietnam-Cambodia relations to a new level, in line with the aspirations of the people of both countries and making a positive contribution to maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developing environment in the region.
