General Secretary To Lam arrives in the United States to attend the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council.
At noon on February 18 (local time), the special aircraft carrying General Secretary To Lam and his delegation arrived at Andrews Air Force Base (USA) to attend the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council, at the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, the Founding Chairman of the Gaza Peace Council, from February 18-20, 2026.
Welcoming General Secretary To Lam and his delegation at Andrews Air Force Base were: Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung; Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations Do Hung Viet; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang; Vietnamese Consul General in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan; Vietnamese Consul General in Houston Hoang Thuy Duong, along with embassy staff.

As a founding member, Vietnam hopes to work with other members to enhance the role of the Gaza Peace Council in promoting peace and reconstruction in Gaza on the basis of United Nations Security Council resolutions, ensuring the legitimate interests of all parties, especially the Palestinian people, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
General Secretary To Lam's attendance at the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council demonstrates support for peace efforts in general and the Gaza reconstruction initiative in particular, contributing to deepening cooperation between Vietnam and the United States in addressing regional and global issues, in line with the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
