Ukraine's main intelligence agency says it is preparing to attack the Crimean Bridge.

According to RIA Novosti on August 3, the head of the Ukrainian intelligence agency (GUR), Kirill Budanov, once again declared preparations for an attack on the Crimean Bridge.

“People are carrying out long-range attacks, and the issue includes the destruction of the Crimean Bridge. This, arguably, requires a comprehensive solution. The task is underway,” Budanov said on Ukrainian national television.

When asked about the possibility of a successful attack on the Crimean Bridge in the future, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate replied that "there is a chance."

The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly threatened to destroy the Crimean Bridge. In April 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans for a new counterattack, including the destruction of the Crimean Bridge. In May, Ukrainian security agencies called the bridge one of their “priority targets.”

In April, the British newspaper The Guardian, citing sources from the GRU, revealed that Ukraine planned to launch a third attack on the Crimean Bridge in the first half of 2024. Furthermore, Ukrainian defense intelligence then stated that the destruction of this vital transportation artery was "unavoidable" and that the GRU possessed most of the weapons needed to achieve this goal.

However, despite numerous threats of attack, the Crimean Bridge remains safe to date. Observers note that there is no guarantee that this will remain the case in the future, and the possibility of an attack on the Crimean Bridge in mid-August is very high.
