Ukraine's General Intelligence Directorate says it is preparing to attack the Crimea bridge
Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine Budanov announced preparations to destroy the Crimean bridge.

According to RIA Novosti on August 3, the Director of the General Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR), Kirill Budanov, once again announced preparations for an attack on the Crimean bridge.
“People are carrying out long-range strikes and the problem includes the destruction of the Crimean bridge. It can be said that this requires a comprehensive solution. The task is underway,” Budanov said on Ukrainian state television.
When asked about the possibility of a successful attack on the Crimean bridge in the future, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate replied that “there is a chance”.
The Ukrainian government has repeatedly threatened to destroy the Crimean bridge. In April 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans for a new offensive, including the destruction of the Crimean bridge. In May, Ukraine’s security service called the bridge one of its “priority targets.”
In April, the British newspaper The Guardian quoted a source from the GRU as revealing that Ukraine planned to launch a third attack on the Crimean Bridge in the first half of 2024. Moreover, the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Agency also stated at that time that the destruction of this traffic artery was "inevitable" and that the GRU had most of the weapons to achieve this goal.
However, after many times of declaring attacks, the Crimean bridge is still safe. Observers say that there is no guarantee that it will remain so in the future, and the possibility of the Crimean bridge being attacked in mid-August is very high.
