The General Director, who was dismissed by Mr. Dinh La Thang, has been reinstated to his previous position.

On December 29th, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company announced that its Board of Directors had decided to appoint Mr. Nguyen Viet Hiep as the company's General Director for a limited term, effective from January 1st, 2018.

In addition, the Board of Directors of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company has decided to dismiss Mr. Tran The Hung from the position of General Director effective January 1, 2018.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hiep was formerly the General Director of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company. In February 2016, following the purchase of 160 used railway carriages from the Kunming Railway Bureau (China), Mr. Dinh La Thang, former Minister of Transport, instructed Vietnam Railways Corporation to dismiss Mr. Hiep from his position.

Subsequently, Mr. Hiep was relieved of his position as General Director of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company and transferred to become the head of the planning and business department of Vietnam Railways Corporation.

Ms. Phung Thi Ly Ha, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, affirmed: "Mr. Nguyen Viet Hiep is a capable and dedicated person, and the company's Board of Directors' appointment of him to this position is completely reasonable."
