According to RIA Novosti on December 7, US President Joe Biden reported to Congress that 80,000 American troops have been sent to European countries to deter a Russian attack.

""Approximately 80,000 members of the U.S. Armed Forces are sent or deployed to North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries in Europe," the U.S. President said in a letter to the leaders of both houses of Congress.

According to President Biden, the U.S. military is there to “reassure allies” and “deter further Russian aggression.”

Furthermore, on December 5th, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced a key commitment from the Joe Biden administration to Ukraine. According to this commitment, Washington will provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, and hundreds of armored vehicles by the middle of next month.

Washington also plans to train Ukrainian troops abroad and finalize a $20 billion loan secured by frozen Russian assets.

In February 2024, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that Moscow would not attack NATO countries because "it would be pointless."

The Russian leader noted that Western politicians frequently threaten their citizens with an "imaginary threat from Russia," aiming to divert attention from internal problems.
