The US President appoints a new Ambassador to Vietnam.

The White House announced that President Donald Trump has appointed Daniel Kritenbrink as the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam.

Daniel Kritenbrink is a veteran diplomat specializing in Asian affairs and currently serves as a senior advisor on North Korea at the U.S. State Department.

Mr. Kritenbrink previously served as the Deputy US Ambassador to Beijing and is fluent in Chinese and Japanese. He is married with two children, hails from Virginia, and began his diplomatic career in 1994.

The current US Ambassador to Vietnam, Ted Osius, appointed by President Barack Obama in 2014, is expected to end his term at the end of this year.
