According to TASS, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a statement in a video message posted on the Kremlin's Telegram channel on the occasion of Special Operations Forces Day. In it, he affirmed that Russian Special Operations Forces act bravely and decisively in the most dangerous areas of special military operations and have demonstrated their readiness to defend the country's interests anywhere in the world.
"Happy holiday to you all: Special Operations Forces Day. I thank all servicemen and veterans for their honest and dedicated performance of military service, their personal courage, and their loyalty to their oath and duty," the Russian leader said.
"We would like to express our special gratitude to the soldiers who participated in the special military operation. You completed your mission honorably and acted bravely, skillfully, and decisively in the most dangerous places, on the front lines, deep within enemy lines, in surprise raids and lightning attacks," he added.
According to Putin, "The special operations forces have proven in practice that they are ready to be at the forefront in defending the Fatherland and protecting Russia's national interests anywhere in the world."
The Russian head of state emphasized that the high qualities and exceptional training always make special operations soldiers and commanders stand out. Therefore, according to Putin, they have protected the people of Crimea and Sevastopol from threats from nationalists and punitive forces, performed excellently in the fight against terrorism in Syria, and are now demonstrating heroism and courage in today's battles against neo-fascism.
Commenting on Russia's decision to create special operations forces since the 2008 military reforms, Putin said that it "was decided by the times and the need to effectively respond to new challenges."
He praised these forces for having bravely overcome the ordeal and becoming a powerful offensive force of the Russian army.
Special Operations Forces Day has been an official holiday in Russia since 2015.
