The Kremlin has published a directive signed by President Putin dismissing four officials, including a Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and a Director-General of the Ministry of Defense. Three of the four officials were on the list of those who had submitted their resignations, while the fourth was on the list of those reaching retirement age.
Last week, in a televised meeting, President Putin sharply criticized the fact that some Russian government officials were elected as members of the Russian Academy of Sciences despite his explicit request that this not be done.
