President Putin asserted that Russia possesses reliable nuclear weapons.
According to RIA Novosti, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a congratulatory letter to employees and veterans of the nuclear industry, stated that Russia's nuclear shield has been reliably formed.
"We are proud of the names of the outstanding founders of the nuclear project, generations of talented scientists, engineers, and specialists. Thanks to their professionalism and work, a reliable nuclear shield for the Fatherland has been formed," the Russian President said.
Putin emphasized that the nuclear industry "properly personifies" Russia's technological prowess, and that the state-owned atomic energy corporation Rosatom has preserved and multiplied the innovative traditions of its predecessors. He expressed confidence that the industry will continue to strengthen international cooperation.
According to President Putin, the creation of a nuclear industry largely determines the development of the country's defense industry, contributing to achieving strategic equality and ensuring national security.
"The creation of the nuclear industry in 1945 was a great event, truly epoch-making in our country's history, a triumph of scientific and technological progress, largely determining the development of the domestic economy, energy, healthcare, the defense industrial complex, contributing to national security and achieving strategic equality," said Putin.
The Russian nuclear industry was established in 1945 – the Soviet leadership decided to create the necessary organizational structures for the formation of a domestic nuclear industry.
