President Putin: History teaches the West nothing
President Putin said the West has always maintained a plan to "cause strategic defeat to Russia", but it is they who are pushing the arms race.

According to RIA Novosti, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with graduates of the Law and Military Universities in the Kremlin and commented on the West's actions against Russia, as well as the development of the Russian Armed Forces.
President Putin said that in the West, some politicians plan to cause a “strategic defeat” for Russia, “history teaches them nothing.” According to Putin, in fact, the enemies continue to send weapons and money to Kiev, as direct participants in the conflict.
The Russian leader said that it was clear who was provoking the arms race with NATO. “In the West, they invented a horror story about a possible Russian invasion to scare people,” Putin said.
“We also know that at the next NATO Summit it is expected to announce the start of a large-scale program to continue building the alliance’s capabilities. To implement it, the military budgets of NATO countries will be increased. Meanwhile, the bloc’s members spend more on military purposes than all the countries of the world combined. From this it becomes clear who is really provoking global militarization and an arms race,” President Putin said.
Regarding the modernization of the Russian Armed Forces, President Putin emphasized that enhancing the combat capabilities of all types of troops of the Russian Armed Forces is an urgent task. In particular, the technical modernization of the army and navy remains the top priority.
According to Mr. Putin, protecting the country from internal and external threats requires clear coordination of all spheres. Russia will continue to develop the Armed Forces as a guarantee of its sovereignty.
“The current international situation is changing dynamically. We see how the situation in the Middle East has worsened. Extra-regional powers are also involved in the conflict. All this brings the world to a very dangerous edge,” President Putin said.
