President Zelensky announces plans for negotiations with Russia
Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed his intention to start negotiations with Russia after meeting with US President Donald Trump.

According to RIA Novosti on February 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that after meeting with US President Donald Trump, Kiev should negotiate with Russia to end the conflict.
"After talking with President Trump, we should move on to some form of discussion with Russia. I want the United States, Ukraine and Russia to sit at the negotiating table," President Zelensky told the AP.
He added that Kiev is in contact with the Trump administration, but the discussions remain general in nature.
President Zelensky expressed hope that separate meetings between representatives of Kiev and Washington would take place soon to hammer out more detailed agreements. At the same time, he reported that the visit of Trump's special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, had been postponed "for legal reasons."
The Ukrainian leader also said he did not consider the idea put forward by Western countries of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine as “a sufficient guarantee of security”.
Earlier, on February 1, US President Donald Trump said he was having "very serious" discussions with Russia about ending the conflict in Ukraine. Mr. Trump promised that he would talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin and could achieve "something important".
