On October 15th, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency executed an urgent arrest warrant against Hoang Dinh Sang (26 years old, from Thai Binh province, temporarily residing in District 7) to investigate and clarify his alleged act of extortion.
According to initial information, in April 2017, Sang applied to work as a customer broker for a securities company (headquartered in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi). During his two months of employment, Sang stole and collected customer and company information.
After quitting his job, in July 2017, Sang created an email address and sent emails to many of his former company's clients, advising them not to buy the company's stock due to the high risks involved, with the intention of sabotaging the company.
In September 2017, Sang called his former company's leaders, claiming he possessed damaging information about the company and demanding 1 billion VND in exchange for his silence. To prove his claim, Sang emailed the company all the statements, revenue reports, and sales contracts with customers.
According to the agreement, Sang arranged for a representative from the securities company to bring the money to a location in Hanoi for handover. Before handing over the money, the representative of the securities company reported the incident to the Criminal Police Department (PC45) of the Hanoi City Police.
When the agreed time arrived, Sang did not show up to receive the money and changed the handover location to Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the task force of PC45, Hanoi City Police, traveled to Ho Chi Minh City to coordinate with Team 2 (PC45), Ho Chi Minh City Police, and District 5 Police to plan the investigation.
At approximately 4 PM on October 11th, at a cafe on Huynh Man Dat Street (District 5), police raided the premises and caught Sang red-handed while he was receiving 1 billion VND from a representative of a securities company.
Here, the police seized 1 billion VND, an SH motorbike, a mobile phone, and a receipt for the money, signed by Sang, pledging to destroy information and data of the securities company.
