The 2018 Toyota Hilux gets a new look, priced from $21,700.

Toyota introduced the updated Hilux at the Bangkok Motor Show in Thailand, featuring several design changes. The front end is inspired by its "sibling," the Tacoma – the Japanese automaker's mid-size pickup truck in the US.

The grille and fog lights have been redesigned in a new, more robust and powerful style compared to the previous generation. However, only the Rocco and PreRunner versions have received these changes.

The Japanese automaker offers several different versions of the 2018 Hilux, with the main differences lying in the equipment and accessories. Customers can choose premium features such as LED headlights and fog lights, push-button start, cruise control, power-adjustable driver's seat, a 7-airbag system, electronic stability control, and more.

The top-of-the-line version, called the Hilux Rocco, is equipped with many unique accessories. This is a double-cab version with a 2.8-liter engine, 4x2 or 4x4 drive, producing 177 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 450 Nm between 1,600-2,400 rpm (6-speed automatic) or 420 Nm at 1,400-2,600 rpm (6-speed manual).

The Hilux Rocco comes standard with features such as new-style decals, 18-inch wheels, off-road tires, and a black leather interior. Meanwhile, the other 2018 Hilux versions use cloth seats.

Besides the top-of-the-line version, the 2018 Hilux also offers 2.4 and 2.7-liter engine options. In the Thai market, the standard Revo version is priced from $21,700. The top-of-the-line Hilux Rocco starts at $34,700.

In Vietnam, the Hilux hasn't achieved a high ranking in the pickup truck segment. Americans are the sales kings, with the Ford Ranger leading the pack, and the Chevrolet Colorado experiencing strong growth, consistently ranking in the top 10 best-selling vehicles for several months.
