At the Bangkok Motor Show 2017, held at the end of March this year, Toyota officially unveiled the updated Vios with a fresh new design for the Thai market. Meanwhile, in the Malaysian market, the 2017 Toyota Vios did not undergo many design changes, only equipment upgrades.
Recently, Toyota launched the Sports Edition of the 2017 Vios in the Malaysian market. According to the Japanese automaker, the 2017 Vios Sports Edition is designed with inspiration from the racing cars participating in the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Challenge.
The 2017 Toyota Vios Sports Edition is based on the standard 1.5J trim level in the Malaysian market. From the few images released by Toyota, it appears the 2017 Vios Sports Edition features a new body kit, giving it a more aggressive and sporty design.

Next is the large rear spoiler and multi-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels, similar to those on the 1.5G version. However, the wheels of the 2017 Toyota Vios Sports Edition are painted black instead of the two-tone design of the 1.5G version. Furthermore, the 2017 Toyota Vios Sports Edition features black and red racing-style graphics.
Inside the 2017 Toyota Vios Sports Edition are new details such as sports seats, unique floor mats, a unique gear shifter, and illuminated cup holders. Additionally, there's a new footwell lighting system, replacing the blue lighting found on the standard Toyota Vios.

The 2017 Toyota Vios Sports Edition is powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine with Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing). The engine produces a maximum power of 107 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Power is transmitted to the wheels via a CVT transmission instead of a 5-speed manual transmission. Finally, there's a sport suspension system, which lowers the ride height by 27 mm.
In Malaysia, the 2017 Toyota Vios Sports Edition is available in only one version, priced at RM 85,300, equivalent to VND 452 million. Toyota Malaysia is currently accepting orders for the 2017 Vios Sports Edition.
