The Toyota Wigo model displayed at the Vietnam Motor Show 2017 (VMS 2017) is the G version with a striking Orange Metallic exterior. The Wigo boasts a compact size typical of a city car, with dimensions of (3,660 x 1,600 x 1,520) mm (length x width x height).

The front of the car is reminiscent of its "older brother" Yaris, applying Toyota's latest design language, clearly evident in the large hexagonal grille and horizontal bar with the logo. The headlights are projector-type, integrated with LED daytime running lights, the fog lights are connected to the front bumper, and the rearview mirrors have integrated turn signals.

Positioned in the budget car segment, it's difficult to expect too much from the Wigo's cabin. Interior details are mostly made of hard plastic and fabric. The steering wheel integrates function controls, along with a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, and fully power windows. The rear seats can be folded down to expand the luggage space, but only 100% fold. Additionally, the Wigo is equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), front airbags for the driver and passenger, and 3-point seat belts on all seats.
|
The Wigo version showcased at VMS 2017 features a 1KR-FE engine, a 3-cylinder, 12-valve, electronically fuel-injected, 1.0-liter engine. This engine produces a maximum power of 65 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 89 Nm at 4,400 rpm. While somewhat less powerful than its competitors, it is still sufficient for agile city driving while ensuring fuel efficiency.

First launched in 2012, the Wigo targets young customers who want a dynamic and affordable car. Following market research at VMS 2017, Toyota plans to officially sell this model in Vietnam from 2018. At its most recent launch at the IIMS exhibition in Indonesia in April 2017, the Wigo had a starting price of US$9,900, equivalent to approximately VND 225 million. Currently, the two most prominent names in the small hatchback segment in Vietnam are the Kia Morning and Hyundai Grand i10, priced at VND 315 million and VND 340 million respectively.
