Vinh City directs to stop construction works from January 20 to celebrate Tet
Vinh City leaders said that construction projects in the city will be temporarily suspended and the site will be cleared from January 20 (December 21) to facilitate people's travel, business, and trade during Tet.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Sy Dieu - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee said: In 2024, many projects in the city will be renovated and upgraded, contributing to the construction of Vinh city to become more modern and civilized. Currently, the projects are being accelerated. However, to ensure people enjoy Tet, welcome Spring, convenient traffic as well as business, the city has directed units to temporarily stop construction from January 20 (ie December 21).

“The units must organize the removal of machinery, site clearance, construction materials, and general cleaning to restore the site from January 20. Except for some key projects, there are important items as well as large volumes of cleaning that may be delayed by 1-2 days. After Tet, around January 10, depending on actual conditions, construction will resume…”, Mr. Nguyen Sy Dieu emphasized.

During the working days before Tet holiday, the number of people traveling and shopping is expected to increase, units must strictly implement the organization, guidance, and ensure traffic safety on the construction and exploitation sections. In particular, contractors must pay attention to reviewing and supplementing the traffic sign system, reflective warning devices at intersections, road sections with high slopes, narrow curves, limited visibility, etc.
Currently, key renovation projects in Vinh City are gradually completing items in each phase. For the Project to Renovate and Upgrade Lenin Avenue, the section from Vinh Airport to the area around Ho Chi Minh Square, invested by Vinh City People's Committee, started in early 2024 with a total investment of over 560 billion VND, phase 1 has now basically been completed, including items: renovating and upgrading the pavement structure, connecting the intersection, traffic safety system of VILe Nin Street and Truong Thi Street; renovating the curb, closing and opening the median strip... Phase 2 with a total investment of over 355 billion VND is expected to be implemented in the first quarter of 2025.

Regarding the Le Hong Phong Street upgrade project, the roadway expansion, drainage system, removal of power cables, old power poles, tree planting have been basically completed... In particular, the section from Muong Thanh Hotel to Nguyen Van Cu Street, about 200 meters long, is still being focused on site clearance, aiming to complete the entire route after Tet when the site is available.

The remaining routes are also being rushed to complete the items. An Duong Vuong and Phong Dinh Cang streets have upgraded the drainage system and renovated the sidewalks. Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street from Truong Van Linh Street to Bui Huy Bich Street (phase 1) has also been basically completed with the road being widened to 24 meters, of which the road surface width is 12 meters, the sidewalk is 2 x 6 meters, the road surface is asphalted. Phase 2 from Bui Huy Bich Street to the planned 24m road has a total route length of more than 800 meters with a total investment of over 200 billion VND and will be implemented in 2025.

For the Ly Thuong Kiet extended road project, the section from Nguyen Van Cu intersection to the intersection with Le Loi street in Hung Binh ward has now completed 700 meters from Nguyen Van Cu street to the intersection with Nguyen Xuan On street. The remaining 400 meters from Nguyen Xuan On street to the intersection with Le Loi street have now been tested; the lighting system infrastructure is basically completed. The sidewalks on both sides of the road are being constructed and installed... striving to complete during Tet. For Nguyen Gia Thieu street, the city is currently directing temporary repairs for people to travel during Tet, after Tet the entire road will be upgraded.

In addition to the work of beautifying the streets, Vinh city is currently directing wards, communes and households to actively implement the cleaning and beautification of blocks, hamlets, streets, at agencies, offices, businesses and households. Mobilizing socialization to install decorative lighting systems along main roads and decorate offices, businesses, and people's houses...
