According to leaders of Vinh City, construction projects in the city will temporarily cease and the land will be returned to its original state from January 20th (the 21st day of the 12th lunar month) to facilitate traffic, business, and trade for residents during the Tet holiday.

Speaking with reporters, Mr. Nguyen Sy Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee, said: In 2024, many projects in the city will be renovated and upgraded, contributing to building a more modern and civilized Vinh city. Currently, the projects are progressing rapidly. However, to ensure that people can enjoy the Lunar New Year, have smooth traffic flow, and conduct business, the city has directed the units to temporarily suspend construction from January 20th (the 21st day of the 12th lunar month).

“The units must organize the removal of machinery, clearing the site, construction materials, and thoroughly cleaning up to return the site to its original condition by January 20th. Except for some key projects, some important items and large-scale cleanup may be delayed by 1-2 days. After Tet, around the 10th day of the first lunar month, depending on the actual conditions, construction will resume…”, Mr. Nguyen Sy Dieu emphasized.

In the working days leading up to the Lunar New Year holiday, a significant increase in travel and shopping is expected. Therefore, relevant units must strictly implement traffic organization, guidance, and safety measures on sections of roads that are under construction and in operation simultaneously. In particular, contractors must pay attention to reviewing and supplementing traffic signs and reflective warning devices at intersections, sections with steep slopes, narrow curves, and limited visibility.

Currently, key urban renovation projects in Vinh City are gradually completing their phases. For the Le Nin Boulevard Renovation and Upgrade Project, the section from Vinh Airport to the area around Ho Chi Minh Square, invested by the Vinh City People's Committee, commenced in early 2024 with a total investment of over 560 billion VND. Phase 1 has now been largely completed, including: renovation and upgrading of the road surface structure, smoothing of intersections, traffic safety systems on Le Nin Boulevard and Truong Thi Street; renovation of curbs, opening and closing of median strips, etc. Phase 2, with a total investment of over 355 billion VND, is expected to be implemented in the first quarter of 2025.

Regarding the Le Hong Phong road upgrade project, the widening of the road, drainage system, removal of old power cables and poles, and planting of trees have been basically completed. However, the section from the Muong Thanh Hotel to Nguyen Van Cu Street, approximately 200 meters long, is still undergoing land clearance, with the aim of completing the entire route after Tet once the land is available.

For the remaining routes, construction is also being rushed to completion. An Duong Vuong and Phong Dinh Cang roads have had their drainage systems upgraded and sidewalks renovated. Hai Thuong Lan Ong road, from Truong Van Linh road to Bui Huy Bich road (phase 1), has also been basically completed with the road widened to 24 meters, including a 12-meter road surface, 2 x 6-meter sidewalks, and asphalt paving. Phase 2, from Bui Huy Bich road to the planned 24-meter road, with a total length of over 800 meters and a total investment of over 200 billion VND, will be implemented in 2025.

Regarding the extended Ly Thuong Kiet road project, the section from the Nguyen Van Cu intersection to the intersection with Le Loi road in Hung Binh ward has been completed for 700 meters, from Nguyen Van Cu road to the Nguyen Xuan On road intersection. Approximately 400 meters from Nguyen Xuan On road to the intersection with Le Loi road have been completed and load testing is underway; the lighting infrastructure is basically finished. Sidewalks on both sides of the road are being constructed and curbs are being installed... aiming for completion before Tet (Lunar New Year). As for Nguyen Gia Thieu road, the city is currently directing temporary repairs to facilitate traffic during Tet; a comprehensive upgrade of the entire road will be carried out after the Lunar New Year.

Besides beautifying the streets and neighborhoods, Vinh City is currently directing wards, communes, and households to actively implement cleaning and beautification measures in residential areas, streets, offices, businesses, and households. It is also mobilizing social resources to install decorative lighting along main roads and to decorate offices, businesses, and people's homes.
