(Baonghean.vn) - During the recent Lunar New Year (Year of the Pig), despite the large number of people and vehicles participating in the festivities, traffic management and order in Vinh City were ensured, preventing prolonged traffic congestion.

Following directives from the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee, from January 25, 2019, the Vinh City Police mobilized approximately 550 officers, including city police officers, neighborhood security forces, urban order and regulations teams, militia, and commune police, to implement traffic diversion plans and ensure smooth traffic flow.

The results show that traffic during and after the Lunar New Year holiday was smooth, with no prolonged congestion, especially on major roads. City residents and tourists celebrated the spring festival happily and safely, with convenient travel. There were no instances of illegal street racing. Importantly, no serious traffic accidents resulting in fatalities occurred.

On the 30th day of the Lunar New Year and New Year's Eve, the City People's Committee directed the City Police to mobilize 100% of its officers and soldiers to effectively implement plans and measures to ensure security and order in the area and protect the "New Year's Eve Celebration of the Year of the Pig 2019". In particular, at the two fireworks display locations (Ho Chi Minh Square and the 72m road in Nghi Phu commune), there were no complex security situations, traffic congestion, or traffic accidents.

Regarding environmental sanitation, before Tet, Vinh City organized a city-wide cleanup, assigning the environmental company to quickly collect waste; at the same time, it intensified propaganda to raise public awareness and prevent littering during Tet. As a result, after Tet, the amount of waste in the city was basically handled promptly.

The city also launched a concentrated campaign to crack down on crime and ensure security and order before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Pig in 2019. The focus was on attacking and suppressing various types of crimes such as property theft, drug trafficking, gambling dens, smuggling, counterfeit goods, commercial fraud, and "unsafe food" within the city.

The investigation resulted in the clarification of 17 criminal cases; the detection and handling of 18 cases of smuggling, with the seizure of goods worth over 700 million VND; and the handling of 15 cases of environmental violations...

Mr. Tran Ngoc Tu, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee, stated that the 2019 Lunar New Year celebrations in Vinh City were safe and joyful, with no incidents related to security, traffic safety, urban order, or the environment.

After the Lunar New Year, the city will continue to maintain and expand its illuminated streets, initially investing in decorative lighting systems on Nguyen Du and Le Duan streets; maintaining flower-lined streets to create highlights; and strengthening forces to ensure traffic safety and urban order.
