Vinh City: Unqualified restaurants are still granted food safety certificates

(Baonghean.vn) - During an inspection in Vinh city, the province's interdisciplinary team discovered that some establishments did not meet the requirements but were still granted food safety certificates.

The interdisciplinary team conducted an inspection at Hieu Hue restaurant, Le Mao extended street, Vinh city.

Since Tet, the interdisciplinary inspection team on food safety in Nghe An province has conducted inspections and post-inspections at 25 food production, trading and processing establishments in 4 localities in the province, including Que Phong district, Dien Chau district, Hoang Mai town and Vinh city. Through the inspection, the team directly fined 3 establishments with a total of 11.5 million VND; and handed over to localities to fine a number of other establishments.

In late February 2017, the delegation inspected 4 restaurants and businesses in Vinh City. Through the inspection, the delegation discovered that 2 food service businesses on Le Mao extended street, Vinh Tan ward lacked food sample storage cabinets but were still granted food safety certificates by the Department of Health and Vinh City People's Committee. Even the owners of the establishments had no concept of the importance of food sample storage.

There is no food storage cabinet; the raw material storage is also the staff bedroom.

The delegation proceeded to sanction these two business households according to Point i, Article 21 "Violation of regulations on conditions for ensuring food safety in food service business in the form of processing ready-made meals; food and beverage business canteens; collective kitchens; kitchens, restaurants of hotels, resorts; restaurants", Decree 178/2013/ND-CP dated November 14, 2013 of the Government on Regulations on sanctioning administrative violations of food safety.

Certificate of knowledge of food hygiene and safety was issued perfunctorily, through the story. In the photo, certificate number 041 was issued on March 23, 2016, while certificate number 042 was issued on March 18, 2016?

Checking administrative procedures at these two households, the delegation also discovered a number of other shortcomings related to health certificates and certificates of knowledge on food safety.

On March 1, 2017, the interdisciplinary inspection team on food safety of Nghe An province continued to carry out its mission in Con Cuong district. In the coming time, the team will continue to inspect more establishments, as well as work with the Food Safety Steering Committee of Vinh city./.
