Hai Phong City: Authorities dismantle football betting ring with transactions worth tens of billions of VND.

On June 19, 2026, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Hai Phong City Police announced that it had issued a decision to temporarily detain six individuals for investigation into the acts of organizing gambling and gambling in the form of football betting.

The identities of the detained individuals have been revealed.

The individuals detained by authorities include: Nguyen Duc Tung (born in 1988) and Nguyen Anh Duy (born in 2000), both residing in Dong Hai Ward, Hai Phong City; Pham Van Truong (born in 1996) residing in Gia Vien Ward, Hai Phong City; Huynh Cong Tuan Anh (born in 1996) residing in Ngo Quyen Ward, Hai Phong City; Pham Trung Hieu (born in 1994) residing in Hai An Ward, Hai Phong City; and Nguyen Tung Linh (born in 1990) residing in Tran Nguyen Han Ward, Hai Phong City.

Transaction volume exceeds 1 billion VND per day.

According to initial investigations, the individuals involved in the gambling ring run by Nguyen Duc Tung and Nguyen Anh Duy transacted approximately over 1 billion VND per day. By the time the ring was dismantled, the total amount of money used by the suspects for football betting had reached tens of billions of VND.

Currently, the Investigation Police Department of Hai Phong City Police has carried out legal procedures in accordance with the law. The unit is continuing to expand the investigation of the case, clarifying the involvement of related individuals to strictly handle them according to regulations.

The Hai Phong City Police Department recognizes that football betting is a violation of the law, posing many serious consequences for individuals, families, and society. Many people, driven by greed and a desire for quick money, participate in betting, leading to losses, debt, and directly impacting family finances and giving rise to other illegal activities.

To proactively prevent crime, the Hai Phong City Police recommend the following to the public:

• Raising awareness and understanding the harmful effects of football betting and other forms of online gambling.
• Absolutely do not participate in gambling or assist in any form of organized gambling activities.
• Promptly detect and report any organized gambling or football betting activities to the nearest police station for timely action.
