Ho Chi Minh City prepares 26,000 billion VND worth of goods for the Lunar New Year of the Horse.
Ho Chi Minh City will release over 9 trillion VND worth of price-stabilized goods onto the market for Tet 2026, meeting up to 42% of consumer demand and supporting deep price reductions on essential items.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade has just announced a plan to prepare goods for the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in 2026, with an estimated total value of over 26,000 billion VND. Of this, goods for market stabilization account for more than 9,000 billion VND, playing a key role in curbing inflation and stabilizing consumer sentiment.
Prioritize price-stabilized and deeply discounted goods.
The Market Stabilization Program for 2025 - Tet Binh Ngo 2026 involves 72 reputable businesses, which are key players in the supply chain. Large distribution systems such as Saigon Co.op, Satra, Central Retail, and MM Mega Market will ensure supply accounts for 23% to 42% of market demand during the Tet month.

According to a representative from the Department of Industry and Trade, businesses have committed to implementing significant price reductions in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) on essential items such as pork, chicken, and poultry eggs. In addition, product categories such as soft drinks, confectionery, jams, and clothing will also see increased promotions to stimulate consumer demand.
Stimulating consumer demand and supporting workers.
Besides ensuring supply at supermarkets, Ho Chi Minh City will implement a "Mobile Sales" plan to bring price-stabilized goods to export processing zones, industrial parks, and areas far from the city center. This activity aims to support workers and low-income laborers in having adequate shopping opportunities during the year-end season.
The concentrated promotional program, titled "Exciting Spring Shopping," is scheduled to run from November 15th to December 31st, 2025. The program not only offers attractive discounts but also encourages people to use convenient cashless payment methods.
Tighten control over prices and supply and demand.
To prevent abnormal price fluctuations, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has directed relevant departments and agencies to closely monitor market supply and demand. The Department of Industry and Trade will take the lead in coordinating with other units to be ready to increase supply beyond the registered level if local shortages occur.
Simultaneously, authorities will intensify market inspections and controls to detect and strictly handle acts of speculation, hoarding, or trading in goods of unknown origin. The Department of Finance is responsible for closely monitoring prices and advising on appropriate management measures to ensure market stability throughout the holiday period.
