Ho Chi Minh City proposes to 'ban' deviant artists, public opinion agrees
After the Ho Chi Minh City document named Jack, HIEUTHUHAI, Phao, the online community requested stronger measures, proposing a nationwide ban on radio waves to protect young people.
Drastic moves to reform culture
The Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has just issued an official dispatch requesting relevant agencies to strengthen management and rectify musical activities that show signs of cultural deviation. Notably, the document recommends considering not inviting artists whose compositions, actions or words go against good customs to participate in events and festivals organized by the city.
This move stems from concerns that some music products, especially in the rap genre and songs that are spreading on social networks, are having a negative impact on young people. Many artists have been specifically named, such as Jack, HIEUTHUHAI, Phao, Gducky, CLME, DSK, Andree, Bray x Dat G, and Andree x Binh Gold, for using language that is considered careless, offensive, and even promotes a loose lifestyle.

Public opinion strongly supports
Immediately after the information was announced, public opinion expressed strong support, considering this a necessary step to protect national cultural values. On media platforms, many readers said that this measure should have been implemented long ago.
Propose more severe penalties
Many opinions not only stopped at supporting but also proposed more severe forms of handling. Popular comments called for a "permanent ban on performances" or a "nationwide ban" instead of just limiting it to events in Ho Chi Minh City. Reader Phan Hoai Thu said that for artists who are idols of young people, the handling must be even more severe, and if they repeat the offense, they should be completely banned from the airwaves.
Some opinions go further, suggesting that the artist title be stripped from individuals whose actions and products have a negative impact on society. Reader Dinh Huy emphasized that cultural management agencies need to have strict sanctions to prevent this situation.

Protecting youth and consulting international experience
The biggest concern of the community is the impact of "deviant" products on the younger generation. Many people are worried that the loose lifestyle promoted in the songs will negatively affect the personality formation of teenagers.
In addition, some readers have compared it to the artist management model in other countries, especially China. Reader Thuy Tram pointed out that in China, artists with scandals or deviant behavior can be "banned" (banned from operating on all platforms), leading to their careers being ruined. Many people believe that Vietnam needs to learn and apply measures that are strong enough to deter, instead of just imposing symbolic administrative fines.

Overall, the proposal from Ho Chi Minh City has opened up a broad discussion on the responsibilities of artists and the role of management agencies, with the common desire to build a healthier cultural and artistic environment.
