According to the indictment, at approximately 10 PM on February 1, 2017, Kha Van Huy and a friend went to the house of a female friend residing in Dinh Thang village, Tam Dinh commune, Tuong Duong district, to visit. There, they encountered another group of friends, including Lo Van Manh. One young man in Manh's group had a previous conflict with Huy, and this man punched Huy in the face. After being assaulted, Huy called Kha Van Vu (Huy's older brother) to tell him about the attack.
Upon hearing this, Vu and two of Huy's friends, Luong Van Vong and Kha Ngoc Quy, grabbed sticks to retaliate.
Upon reaching the Khe Bi bridge area in Dinh Thang village, Tam Dinh commune, Tuong Duong district, he encountered a group of young men, including Manh. A brawl then ensued, during which Manh was repeatedly struck on the head and shoulders with sticks by Kha Ngoc Quy, Luong Van Vong, and Kha Van Vu. As a result, Manh suffered serious injuries.
After three months of treatment at the hospital, Mr. Mạnh passed away on April 30, 2017.
In court, all three defendants admitted their guilt and expressed remorse for their actions. After considering aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel of judges sentenced defendant Luong Van Vong to 12 years in prison, defendant Kha Van Vu to 10 years in prison, and defendant Kha Ngoc Quy to 9 years in prison.
Regarding civil compensation, both families agreed that the three defendants must compensate the victim's family 400 million VND (nearly 100 million VND has already been paid).
