(Baonghean.vn) - This year, many temples in the province organized summer retreats, attracting a large number of young people. With meticulous and thoughtful preparation, the summer retreats at these temples have provided young people with many meaningful experiences.

After being postponed for two years due to the complicated Covid-19 pandemic, this summer, many temples in the province, such as Chi Linh Temple (Yen Thanh), Co Am Temple (Dien Chau), Vien Quang Temple, Ha Temple (Nam Dan), Pho Mon Temple, Tung Lam Diec Co Temple (Vinh City)... have restarted their summer retreats with the participation of thousands of young people. Depending on the specific circumstances, temples organize from 1 to 4 retreats (1-10 days/retreat) with 150-650 participants per retreat. All retreats are completely free. Participants experience spiritual activities such as chanting, meditation, learning moral lessons in the spirit of Buddhism, and participating in engaging extracurricular activities... Venerable Thich Tue Minh, Abbot of Chi Linh Pagoda (Yen Thanh District) and Head of the Provincial Buddhist Guidance Committee, said: “This year, pagodas in the province will organize about 15 summer retreats. Chi Linh Pagoda alone will organize two retreats with nearly 1,200 participants. To successfully organize these retreats, pagodas must meticulously prepare in all aspects, from program development to implementation. Among the participants in this year's summer retreat, many are first-time attendees, but there are also quite a few who have participated in 2-3 previous retreats. Photo: Huy Thu

This year, Co Am Pagoda (Dien Chau) organized the most summer retreats compared to other pagodas in the province, with 5 retreats. In the photo: The "COAM temple Got talent" program at Co Am Pagoda. Photo: Le Khuong

Overall, the content of the summer retreat programs is quite relevant, practical, and suitable for each age group, organized creatively and attractively by the temples. Particularly noteworthy are the extracurricular activities with topical and essential content (Say No to Games; Attitudes Towards Facebook; Secrets to Academic Success; Environmental Protection; Drowning Prevention, Traffic Accident Prevention, First Aid; Fire Prevention and Fighting; Golden Bell Challenge, Got Talent…). Some temples have organized retreat programs with elaborate and thoughtful investment and preparation, such as inviting renowned monks and nuns from across the country to give sermons, inviting officials, experts, and celebrities, organizing high-quality seminars and talk shows, and conveying messages related to youth. After the initial awkwardness, the participants in the retreats at the temple have all "overcome their limitations," developing a spirit of independence in all aspects of life, from eating and studying to playing and sleeping. Photo: Huy Thu

During the summer retreat, the participants were treated like family by the monks and senior leaders, receiving attentive guidance and instruction in all activities. All participants were happy and eager to experience the retreat, creating unforgettable memories. Photo: Huy Thư

The summer retreats organized in temples during June and July were considered a healthy playground for young people in Nghe An to interact, learn, cultivate moral character, and improve their knowledge... This fostered self-awareness, discipline, a virtuous lifestyle, love, sharing, and helping others. Photo: Huy Thu

At the end of the retreats, temples often organize special programs such as lantern festivals and candlelight vigils, creating a deeply moving atmosphere. Many outstanding participants receive commendations from the temples. Summer retreats, with various names (Nurturing Lotus Seeds; Nurturing Morality; Towards the Future; Returning to the Buddha; Preparing for Life...), have provided thousands of participants in the province with meaningful experiences.
