Tran Van Buu - the only Nghe An player in U23 Vietnam
(Baonghean.vn) - The only Nghe An player present in the U23 Vietnam training session to prepare for the U23 Asian qualifiers is Tran Van Buu, who is currently playing for Saigon FC in the 2019 V.League.
Born in 1998, Tran Van Buu joined Viettel quite early. The player from Quynh Thien commune, Hoang Mai town is one of the students of coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, who used to work as a youth trainer at Viettel and is now the head coach of Saigon team.
“Joining Viettel means that Buu and his peers in Nghe An have to live away from home since childhood. That is a big challenge for any boy. However, he always has a strong will to become a football player. Buu has overcome all difficulties to achieve great growth like today” - Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong said about his student.

Before playing for Saigon FC, Van Buu played for Phu Dong FC in the second division and made great contributions to helping the team gain promotion to the first division after the end of the 2018 season.
Fully understanding the potential of his former student, Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong decided to bring Van Buu to Saigon FC and from here the midfielder from Hoang Mai has made great strides in the V.League.
The midfielder of Saigon team is only 1m68 tall but has a thick body. Playing in the central midfielder position, Van Buu is considered to have a comprehensive offensive and defensive style of play.
“His tactical thinking is bright and his basic techniques are also considered good. Choosing Buu in the midfield will help balance Saigon FC's defense and attack,” added coach Thanh Cong.
The fact that Tran Van Buu was called up to the Vietnam U22 team to prepare for the U22 Asia qualifiers is certainly a big surprise for Buu and coach Nguyen Thanh Cong.
“From a player in the second division, just wet behind the ears playing in the V.League, Buu has been selected for the U23 Vietnam team, it is truly a dream come true. I am happy that his efforts have been rewarded. Honestly, I hope Buu will try to train well when he is selected for the national team. If he cannot stay in the end, he should not be sad because after all, it is just the beginning. There are still many opportunities ahead, if he continues to perform well as he is now, he will go far in the future” - Coach Thanh Cong told Nghe An Newspaper.
Vietnam U22 will begin the U23 Asian qualifying campaign from March 22 to 26, 2019 at My Dinh Stadium. Coach Park Hang-seo's team will have to compete for a place in the U23 Asian Finals with teams from Southeast Asia: U23 Indonesia, U23 Thailand and U23 Brunei.
