(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of July 14, at the Martyrs' Memorial of Cua Lo town (Nghe An), a prayer ceremony and candle lighting ceremony took place to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2022).

Attending the ceremony were comrades representing leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province.

Through the resistance wars against foreign invaders to liberate the nation, build and protect the Fatherland and fulfill international obligations, Cua Lo town has 780 martyrs, 710 relatives of martyrs; 735 wounded and sick soldiers; 6,100 people with meritorious services to the revolution, revolutionary activists, and activists.resistancecaptured and imprisoned by the enemy.

In particular, the town has 57 mothers who were awarded and posthumously awarded the honorable title of “Heroic Vietnamese Mother” by the State. This is an honor and pride but also an irreparable pain and loss.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Cua Lo town coordinated with the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province to organize a requiem ceremony and light candles to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs. This is a series of activities to pay tribute to the outstanding children of the homeland and country who heroically sacrificed to protect the Fatherland.

This is also an opportunity to further promote the movement of gratitude, honor, encourage, motivate the spirit, sacrifice and dedication of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.HeroPeople's armed forces, wounded and sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and people with revolutionary contributions.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province read the Memorial; monks, nuns,Buddhistand people offered lanterns and flowers to pay tribute and commemorate the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for the Fatherland.

The ceremony ended with a prayer program for the souls of heroes and martyrs.
