Solemn ceremony commemorating the 83rd anniversary of the death of General Secretary Le Hong Phong.

On the morning of September 17th (corresponding to the 26th day of the 7th lunar month of the Year of the Snake), a solemn incense offering ceremony was held at the General Secretary Le Hong Phong Memorial Area in Hung Nguyen Nam commune to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of his death.

Attending the ceremony, representing Military Region 4 was Major General Le Van Trung - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4.

The leaders of Nghe An province present included: Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, and agencies; Hung Nguyen Nam, Hung Nguyen, Lam Thanh, and Yen Trung communes; representatives of the Le family clan and local people…

The delegation from Ho Chi Minh City included Comrade Tran Van Khuyen - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee.

Eighty-three years ago, Comrade Le Hong Phong sacrificed his life at noon on September 6, 1942 (corresponding to the 26th day of the 7th lunar month of the Year of the Horse). Our Party lost a leader who was utterly loyal to the Party, devoted to the people, and a staunch fighter of the international communist movement.

At 40 years old, with over 20 years of revolutionary activity, Comrade Le Hong Phong was an outstanding leader of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam; an excellent disciple of President Ho Chi Minh; a staunch fighter of the international communist and workers' movement; and an outstanding son of Nghe An province.

General Secretary Le Hong Phong dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the People; he always placed the interests of the revolution above the interests of his personal life and family happiness.

Comrade Le Hong Phong, whose birth name was Le Huy Duc, later changed to Le Huy Doan, was born in 1902 in Dong village, Thong Lang commune (formerly Hung Thong commune, Hung Nguyen district), now Hung Nguyen Nam commune, Nghe An province.

In 1924, Le Huy Doan and like-minded individuals sought a way to reach northeastern Thailand to engage in revolutionary activities. Le Huy Doan changed his name to Le Hong Phong.

In late 1924, Le Hong Phong had the opportunity to meet the revolutionary leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, and from then on, under his guidance and training, Le Hong Phong became an outstanding revolutionary cadre and a staunch international communist fighter.

From March 27th to 31st, 1935, the First Congress of the Party was convened in Macau (China). The Congress elected Comrade Le Hong Phong as the Party's General Secretary (General Secretary).

At the Seventh Congress of the Communist International, Comrade Le Hong Phong was elected to the Presidium of the Congress, was elected by the Congress as a full member of the Executive Committee of the Communist International, and actively contributed to the success of the Congress.

After many years of revolutionary activity and significant contributions to the Party, the country, and the nation, recognizing Comrade Le Hong Phong's pivotal role in the patriotic movement and national liberation, the French colonialists arrested him on June 22, 1939.

Comrade Le Hong Phong was sentenced by the Saigon Court to 6 months of imprisonment and 3 years of house arrest, after which he was released and placed under house arrest in his hometown. In 1940, Comrade Le Hong Phong was arrested for the second time by the French colonial authorities in his hometown, then imprisoned in the Saigon Central Prison and sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment and exile to Con Dao Island.

In Con Dao, after months of brutal torture, his health deteriorated. He breathed his last at noon on September 6, 1942. Before his death, he left a message: "Please inform the Party that, until the very last moment, Le Hong Phong still wholeheartedly believed in the glorious victory of the revolution."

The 83rd anniversary of the death of General Secretary Le Hong Phong is a special occasion to remember him more deeply, to recall his life, career, achievements, and immense contributions to the revolutionary cause, to the country and homeland, as well as to peace-loving humanity around the world.

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered flowers, gifts, and incense before the spirit of General Secretary Le Hong Phong; expressing their profound gratitude for his great and important contributions to the revolutionary cause, to the country, and to his homeland.

Following in the footsteps and career of General Secretary Le Hong Phong, the Party Committee, Government, and people of Nghe An province in general, and Hung Nguyen Nam commune in particular, are determined to overcome all difficulties and challenges, working together to build a stronger and more prosperous homeland with sustainable development.
