Disputes in the East Sea need to be resolved by peaceful means.
According to Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, Vietnam's consistent policy is that disputes in the East Sea between relevant parties need to be resolved by peaceful measures in accordance with international law.

On July 15, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: Vietnam's consistent policy is that disputes in the East Sea between relevant Parties need to be resolved by peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), respecting diplomatic and legal processes, contributing to peace and cooperation in the East Sea.
Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed this when answering a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's viewpoint on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the Permanent Court of Arbitration's final ruling on the East Sea case.
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, on this occasion, Vietnam once again affirms its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law, and its legitimate rights over Vietnam's maritime zones, established in accordance with UNCLOS.
