Grammy Awards 2017: Who will win the 'battle' between Beyonce and Adele?
As the 2017 Grammy Awards approaches, more and more people are thinking about the potential candidates to take home the prestigious music award.
Of these, the most popular are Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, categories in which two famous names Beyonce and Adele are both nominated (alongside the Best Pop Solo Performance category).
Entertainment site E! News has made its predictions for the main awards. While Beyonce and Adele are both sure to be up for grabs, other artists still have a good chance of being named to receive the golden gramophone icon.
Album of the Year Potential: Adele, 25
Beyonce fans may find this a controversial choice. However, the reality is that the British nightingale’s 25 album was not only a huge success in sales (over 8.03 million copies) but also attracted so much attention that the Internet crashed every time tickets to her shows went on sale.
Meanwhile, Beyonce's Lemonade only sold 1.05 million copies, although of course the sales gap between the two albums is largely due not to quality but because Lemonade was released exclusively on the online music service Tidal, making it difficult for many of the pop superstar's fans (who are already Spotify and Apple Music customers) to access.

When it comes to social media popularity, Adele is also increasingly surpassing Beyonce on Twitter. The British star has 27.6 million followers, while the American representative has 14.7 million supporters.
Adele's seemingly bold personality, combined with her candid yet hilarious videos, always leaves fans wanting more, which is sure to have an impact on the outcome of the upcoming awards show. Beyonce, on the other hand, remains elusive, rarely giving any interviews.
Record of the Year and Song of the Year
Before discussing these two categories, it’s important to clarify the difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year. While each category honors a single, the winners are judged on different criteria. Record of the Year honors the overall performance and production, while Song of the Year recognizes the talent of the singer/songwriter behind a song.
Based on the evaluation criteria, it can be seen that Formation is "heavier" than Hello in the Record of the Year category, while the opposite happened in the race for Song of the Year. Adele's ballad conquered fans with her perfect voice and inner strength, but could not compare to Formation in terms of production investment.
Competing for Record of the Year are Justin Bieber's Love Yourself; Lukas Graham's 7 Years; Rihanna's Work and Twenty One Pilots' Stressed Out. Competing for Song of the Year are Justin Bieber's Love Yourself; Lukas Graham's 7 Years; Mike Posner's I Took a Pill in Ibiza.
