Lai confessed that from April 2016 to April 1, 2017, he committed 21 thefts of property at churches and temples in Dien Chau and Yen Thanh districts. Of these, 14 thefts occurred at parishes and 7 at temples. He also admitted to having an accomplice, Ha Thanh Hung (born in 1985), also from Hong Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, who participated in 10 thefts.
