Before entering the second round of the 2022 National Third Division Football League, Song Lam Nghe An Youth drew against Kon Tum in the opening match of the tournament. This was a disappointing draw for Coach Nguyen Van Tien's team, as the Nghe An side took an early lead and created many opportunities. However, a lack of concentration allowed the opposing team to equalize in the final seconds of the first half.

In the second match, the Nghe An team faced Luxury Ha Long. This was the team that caused a sensation in the previous match, after winning 2-1 against Hanoi Youth.

Although Luxury Ha Long is known to be a team capable of creating surprises in this tournament, coach Nguyen Van Tien cannot field his strongest lineup. Several players suffered minor injuries before the match and were unable to participate. Notably, left winger Tran Ngoc Dung – who scored the opening goal in the previous match for Song Lam Nghe An Youth – is injured and cannot play. Dao Ngoc Tu will be moved to the left wing to replace Ngoc Dung. The right wing will be controlled by Nguyen Van Son. Captain Ngo Van Luong will be moved back to play as an attacking midfielder for the Nghe An team.

Despite being at a disadvantage, Song Lam Nghe An Youth team started the match quite proactively. Through short, quick passes, coach Nguyen Van Tien's players completely controlled the game and created many scoring opportunities. However, the final shots from Truong Van Tuyen, Tien Dung, and Ngo Van Luong lacked precision. Therefore, the first 45 minutes ended with neither team breaking the deadlock.

In the second half, coach Nguyen Van Tien instructed his players to push forward and press from the start. Interchanges in midfield and through balls down the flanks surprised the opposing defense several times. However, their final shots lacked the necessary finesse to make a difference. Ineffective in approaching the penalty area, the Nghe An strikers resorted to long-range shots. But on a day when the opposing goalkeeper was quite focused, Song Lam Nghe An Youth were unable to find the net against Luxury Ha Long.

Thus, after two matches, coach Nguyen Van Tien's team has only managed to accumulate 2 points. On October 17th, Song Lam Nghe An Youth will face Public Security Youth.
