I was fortunate to be able to directly participate in the N Competition.Team CeremonyThroughout Khanh Hop commune, Nghi Loc district, I have gained many insights from what I have seen and heard.

Despite it being just a children's event and the hot weather, from early morning, people in the commune eagerly gathered in large numbers. The commune has 11 hamlets, with about 40 children participating from each hamlet, and at least two family members accompanying each child to cheer them on, so the roads around the commune's stadium were almost completely full. The enthusiasm of the people was not only evident on today's day of the competition.

“For over a month, my grandchild has been practicing the Scout ceremony, and for over a month, my family has lost sleep. Every night, grandparents and parents accompany their children to the community center to practice until 10 pm. It's tiring, but so much fun. It's been over 20 years since we've had this feeling again. The children not only have more playgrounds and memories, but also the opportunity to cultivate discipline, teamwork, and a competitive spirit,” confided Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lam, a resident of Hop Tien hamlet, while waiting for the competition to begin.

Watching the children's parade, Mrs. Le Thi Quyet, also a resident of Hop Tien hamlet, proudly shared: "After the competition, we prepared a lavish meal for the children, cooked by the grandmothers and mothers themselves. Before that, the children's training process also received a lot of financial support from families. Everyone wanted to contribute to the hamlet's achievements and to the success of the next generation."

Not only in Hop Tien hamlet, but all the other hamlets share the same collective spirit and desire to contribute. Watching the hamlets' performances attentively, Mr. Nguyen Hong Luc, head of Hop Thang hamlet, shared: “One of the distinguishing features of our hamlet is that we never divide into groups or teams to collect donations; everything is based on a common principle, with everyone working together for a common goal. This not only avoids discrimination and parochialism but also encourages the self-awareness and voluntary participation of each individual. This approach suits the character of our people very well, helping our hamlet always be at the forefront of movements and campaigns, whether it's a small-scale sports event or a flower-lined road project costing hundreds of millions of dong…”

Immediately after the Scout Ceremony Competition, Khanh Hop commune launched a football tournament organized by the commune's Youth Union in collaboration with benefactors. The purpose of this tournament was to raise money to support poor students at the beginning of the new school year. This is also an annual activity that has created a widespread impact.

Besides being united in movements, actively participating in emulation campaigns, and wholeheartedly building their homeland, the people of Khanh Hop commune are also known for their diligence, hard work, and ability to seize opportunities to develop the economy.

Located at the gateway to the sea, formed by the merger of Nghi Khanh and Nghi Hop communes, Khanh Hop commune covers an area of ​​over 700 hectares and is traversed by Highway 536 and National Highway 46. Leveraging its inherent potential, the people of Khanh Hop not only engage in agriculture and seafood exploitation but also focus on business and trade.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, head of Dong Thinh hamlet, shared: “From the coastal shrimp farming model, many households in the area have successfully developed attractive restaurant and service chains, bringing high economic efficiency and creating jobs for many others. The more economically stable the people become, the more enthusiastic they are in contributing to building their homeland.”

Looking back through history, it can be affirmed that the spirit of unity and wholehearted dedication to building the homeland has been a hallmark ofpeople of Khanh Hop communeToday, it is a continuation and inheritance of the traditions from the generations of our ancestors in the old Thuong Xa village - the birthplace of Grand Tutor Cuong Quoc Cong Nguyen Xi.

Nguyen Xi was a brilliant military strategist and politician, a two-time founding father of the Later Le Dynasty in Vietnamese history. The first time, he fought side-by-side with General Le Loi, enduring hardships to "pacify the Ngo and suppress the North," ushering in a new chapter in the country's history and permanently freeing it from Chinese domination. The second time, facing the imminent threat of national collapse, he rallied his generals to support the righteous ruler, eliminate rebellious factions, and restore the nation. He always prioritized the peace of the country and the happiness of the people above all else, readily sacrificing his own interests and family happiness for the nation.

Serving four Lê dynasty kings, Nguyễn Xí's life witnessed and endured much hardship, yet he remained steadfastly loyal. Besides his political role, Grand Tutor Cương Quốc Công Nguyễn Xí also focused on attracting settlers, establishing villages, and reclaiming barren land, especially in the Thượng Xá and Cửa Lò regions… For these great contributions, after his death, people everywhere praised him profusely and erected temples in his honor.

Following in their father's footsteps, the 15 sons of Grand Tutor Cương Quốc CôngNguyen XiThey were all talented and dedicated military commanders, developing into 15 major branches of the Nguyen Dinh family. Generations of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have wholeheartedly dedicated themselves and sacrificed for the people and the country; many have been revered as tutelary deities and have temples erected in their honor. It is from this cradle of the Nguyen Dinh family that patriotism, revolutionary traditions, and a spirit of selfless dedication to building the homeland have spread and been passed down, creating the distinctive character of the people of Khanh Hop today.

“The people of Khanh Hop are willing to sacrifice personal and family interests for the common goal of the community. Just as in the past, during the war, many mothers shed tears as they bid farewell to their husbands and sons, and many martyrs bravely fell… now, in peacetime, they are ready to contribute more than they have, without calculating gains or losses, for the benefit of the future, uniting and supporting each other selflessly and enthusiastically. It is because of this that we have bright, safe, and well-lit roads, wide and clean concrete roads, and practical charitable programs for poor but academically gifted children…” – Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cuong, a cultural officer of Khanh Hop commune, proudly shared.

The average income of the people has increased steadily, people's lives have been improved both materially and spiritually, and infrastructure has been upgraded...

With 12 out of 19 criteria met or exceeded, Khanh Hop is aiming to achieve advanced new rural status by the end of 2023. Driving around Khanh Hop commune these days, cruising along roads adorned with red flags and admiring the smiling faces of the elderly and children, I believe that goal is very close…
