The poetry and historical figure exhibition "Following in the Footsteps of the General"

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the exhibition "Following in the Footsteps of the General".

Teacher, poet, and journalist Nguyen Thi My Dung, who has had the opportunity to meet and write many articles and poems about the brilliant General over the past 20 years, shared: “I had the honor of meeting the General for the first time in the spring of 1998. Moved by the story of the General and his piano by writer Dao Vu, I wrote an article about him in the Sports & Culture Newspaper. Thanks to that, I had the chance to visit the General at his private residence. The simple, heartfelt stories from our many subsequent encounters have been the inspiration for my articles and poetic renditions for many years to come, even after the General passed away. I am very moved and happy that the exhibition is being held in Quang Ninh, and my wish is to inspire the people of the mining region to love history, to appreciate the sacrifices of their ancestors, and to nurture and awaken the spirit of patriotism and revolution, especially to show gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap both in battle and in everyday life.”

With the message that General Vo Nguyen Giap, an outstanding Marshal of the nation, was also incredibly simple, approachable, and affectionate, he will forever live in the hearts of the people. The exhibition used 110 poems and narratives composed by teacher, poet, and journalist Nguyen Thi My Dung to recreate the milestones of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, as well as the everyday life of Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap and the people's affection for our legendary general.

Throughout the exhibition are three themes about the life and career of General Vo Nguyen Giap: Making the historic victory at Dien Bien Phu, The General in the hearts of the people, and Shining brightly for a thousand years, depicted through 110 poems presented on a large scale on 92 silk-printed panels and ivory bamboo frames, with illustrations provided by the Vietnam News Agency and photographer Tran Hong.

Ngo Uyen Nhi, a 10th-grade student from Le Thanh Tong Primary, Secondary, and High School, emotionally shared: “I am very moved and honored to participate in the exhibition about General Vo Nguyen Giap. As a young person, I hope to learn more about the history of our country and will share my understanding of history with everyone so that everyone knows and is proud of our nation's history of building and defending the country.”

The exhibition serves as a meaningful gift and a profound tribute, commemorating the brilliant general, the elder brother of the Vietnam People's Army, a military genius of the Vietnamese nation and the world throughout history. At the same time, the exhibition aims to inspire today's young generation to continue the journey of their ancestors, living and acting with the spirit of "Putting the public good above all else," as the General demonstrated throughout his revolutionary career, contributing to the building and development of a peaceful and prosperous Vietnam.
