Authorities dismantled a football betting ring with transactions totaling 20 billion VND.

On July 27, the Bac Giang Provincial Police announced that they have decided to initiate criminal proceedings, indict suspects, and apply preventive measures (detention, prohibition from leaving their place of residence, and temporary suspension of exit) against 10 individuals, and will continue to expand the investigation to strictly handle the suspects in accordance with the law.

Specifically, the Bac Giang Provincial Police arrested 10 individuals residing in Viet Yen town, including: Nguyen Tuan Anh (born 1989); Do Quang Tuan (born 1998); Nguyen Minh Hieu (born 1997); Do Van La (born 1966); Hoang Van Dong (born 1972); Do Van Vi (born 1989); Than Van Hoa (born 1988); Chu Thuc Vi (born 1981); Chu Quy Nghia (born 1980); and Do Van Nam (born 1999).

Authorities seized one desktop computer, 25 mobile phones, and numerous other items and documents related to the case.

During the investigation, the police determined that, starting in May 2024, Nguyen Tuan Anh and Do Van Vi purchased gambling accounts through the bong88.com system from another individual and then subdivided them into smaller accounts to organize gambling, specifically betting on football matches.

During major football tournaments around the world, the individuals involved transacted a total of approximately 20 billion VND.

In addition, the provincial police force also investigated and clarified the gambling activities in the form of buying and selling lottery numbers by a number of individuals.
