Dismantling a loan shark ring in civil transactions
(Baonghean.vn) - Hoang Mai town police (Nghe An) have just successfully broken up a case, arresting 2 subjects for lending at high interest rates in civil transactions, illegally profiting over 630 million VND.
The two subjects include: Ho Sy Vong (born in 1973), residing in Tan Dong block, Quynh Di ward, Hoang Mai town and Nguyen Huu Thuy (born in 1982), residing in Tan Thang village, An Hoa commune, Quynh Luu district. Both of them work in real estate business, but taking advantage of the difficult economic situation, many people need to borrow money, from 2022 to now, Ho Sy Vong and Nguyen Huu Thuy have lent money to many people in need with interest rates from 3,000 VND to 5,000 VND/1 million VND/day.
After a period of monitoring the activities of the subjects, at about 19:30 on August 17, 2023, using professional measures, Hoang Mai Town Police broke up the case and successfully arrested 2 subjects. Searching the residence of Vong and Thuy, the police force seized more than 256 million VND, 1 car, 2 mobile phones, 4 Land Use Rights Certificates and many documents and books related to the act of lending at high interest rates.
Through initial investigation, along with information provided by the victims, the police clarified that the amount of money the subjects lent was over 1.6 billion VND, thereby illegally profiting over 630 million VND.
