Authorities dismantled a loan sharking ring operating in civil transactions.
(Baonghean.vn) - The police in Hoang Mai town (Nghe An province) have successfully cracked a case, arresting two individuals for engaging in usurious lending practices in civil transactions, illegally profiting over 630 million VND.
The two suspects are: Ho Sy Vong (born in 1973), residing in Tan Dong Hamlet, Quynh Di Ward, Hoang Mai Town, and Nguyen Huu Thuy (born in 1982), residing in Tan Thang Village, An Hoa Commune, Quynh Luu District. Both are involved in real estate business, but taking advantage of the difficult economic situation and the high demand for loans, from 2022 to the present, Ho Sy Vong and Nguyen Huu Thuy have lent money to many people at interest rates ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 VND per 1 million VND per day.

After monitoring the suspects' activities for some time, at approximately 7:30 PM on August 17, 2023, using professional investigative methods, the Hoang Mai Town Police successfully cracked the case and arrested two suspects. During a search of Vong and Thuy's residences, the police seized over 256 million VND, one car, two mobile phones, four land use right certificates, and numerous documents and records related to usurious lending activities.
Through initial investigations and information provided by the victims, the police have determined that the suspects lent out over 1.6 billion VND, thereby illegally profiting over 630 million VND.
