Authorities dismantled a 40 billion VND gambling ring.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Quỳnh Lưu District Police have successfully dismantled a gambling ring operating through the buying and selling of lottery numbers. The total amount of money involved in this operation is estimated to be up to 40 billion VND.
Around September 2023, through intelligence gathering, the Quỳnh Lưu District Police discovered an inter-provincial gambling ring operating through the buying and selling of lottery numbers. The district police established a special task force to combat and dismantle it.

On December 28th, recognizing the opportune moment, the Quỳnh Lưu District Police deployed task forces to simultaneously arrest 7 suspects residing in Quỳnh Lưu District (Nghe An Province) and 1 suspect residing in Ho Chi Minh City.
The ringleader was Dinh Van Cuong (born in 1992, residing in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City). The seized evidence included 250 million VND in cash, 10 mobile phones, and documents related to the suspects' criminal activities.

During the investigation, the Quỳnh Lưu District Police determined that the amount of money gambled by the suspects in the form of buying and selling lottery numbers on December 27, 2023 and December 28, 2023 was over 1 billion VND.
Based on the evidence gathered, it is estimated that the total amount of money involved in the gambling ring's operations over the three-month period was more than 40 billion VND.
Currently, the Investigative Police Agency (Quynh Luu District Police) has initiated a criminal case and indicted the above-mentioned individuals for the crime of "Gambling". Simultaneously, they are continuing to investigate and expand the case.
