Authorities dismantled a gambling ring that recorded over 800 million VND in lottery bets per day.
(Baonghean.vn) - The female ringleader of the gambling operation had two previous convictions for "Illegal trafficking of narcotics," making her activities very sophisticated. In just one day, the total amount of money seized from the gambling operation exceeded 830 million VND.
On November 16th, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that, under the direct guidance of the provincial police leaders, they had successfully dismantled a gambling ring operating through illegal methods.record lottery numbers.On a large scale, authorities arrested 10 individuals with gambling money exceeding 800 million VND per day.

Through intelligence gathering, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a gambling ring operating through lottery and number betting in Vinh City and Do Luong District, led by Tran Thi To Nga (born in 1971), residing in Hong Son Ward, Vinh City. Having two previous convictions for "Illegal trafficking of narcotics," Nga's operations were highly sophisticated in order to evade law enforcement.
Specifically, to run her gambling ring, Nga did not directly receive lottery slips from subordinates but hired Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong (born in 2005), residing in Trung Do ward, Vinh city, to handle transactions on her behalf; Nga also stipulated that all transactions during the gambling process for all individuals in the ring, from receiving to paying lottery money, were conducted online via social media and internet banking accounts.
Furthermore, during the hours when lottery numbers are being transferred (approximately 5 PM to 8 PM daily), the individuals in the ring would be inside houses equipped with surveillance cameras to avoid detection by the police and to facilitate the destruction of documents and evidence if discovered.

Having identified the activities of the individuals involved in the gambling ring led by Tran Thi To Nga, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special investigation case.
Following a surveillance operation, on November 15, 2022, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with the Do Luong District Police and other relevant units, simultaneously arrested 10 individuals at 10 locations involved in illegal lottery and betting activities in Do Luong District and Vinh City.
The police seized 15 mobile phones, 8 bank cards, and other related evidence; they also proved that on November 15, 2022 alone, the total amount of money used by the suspects for gambling was over 830 million VND.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police is urgently expanding the investigation to apprehend the remaining suspects in the gambling ring.
