Dismantling a large-scale gold smuggling ring to Vietnam
Economic police have just dismantled a ring that purchased foreign currency USD, transferred it to Cambodia, then bought gold and brought it back to Vietnam for consumption.
On September 29, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said this was a very large smuggling ring that had been going on for a long time, involving many suspects in various localities.
A day ago, the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling (C03, Ministry of Public Security) coordinated with professional units and the Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh Police to destroy this ring.

Police determined that on September 27 and 28 alone, this ring smuggled 198 kg of gold. Authorities seized 103 kg of gold, more than 2.8 million USD and 26.7 billion VND.
C03 said the mastermind of the ring has been identified, however information about the suspects has not been released.
