Through intelligence gathering in the area, the Ho Chi Minh City Police discovered that Huynh Le Thanh Long (born in 1988, residing in Gia Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and his accomplices showed signs of organizing large-scale football betting in the locality and many other provinces and cities. Due to the complex nature of the case, in early June 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Police established a special task force to focus their efforts on combating the operation.

On June 29, 2026, authorities in Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with the Lam Dong Provincial Police and police from several other localities, simultaneously launched an operation to summon individuals involved for questioning. Initial findings identified Huynh Le Thanh Long and Nguyen Viet Bao Long (born in 1985, residing in Cau Kieu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) as key links in this network.

During questioning at the investigative agency, the suspects confessed to receiving Master-level betting accounts from Cambodia. They then divided these into smaller Agent and Member accounts to distribute to individuals and gamblers in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces to conduct betting activities through the Bong88.com website.

The individuals involved in the ring include: Hua Ba An (born in 1995, Binh Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Tran Le Tuan Kiet (born in 1979, Binh Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Tran Anh Dung (born in 1991, Binh Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Le Thanh Tien (born in 1991, Hoai Duc Commune, Lam Dong Province), and Hoang Tan Phat (born in 2002, Vinh Loc Commune, Ho Chi Minh City).
