"North Korea launched several unidentified missiles this morning, appearing to be land-to-ship missiles, from the vicinity of Wonsan in Gangwon Province," the South Korean military announced, adding that the missiles traveled 200 kilometers, according to Reuters.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in was immediately informed about the launch.
The most recent missile test by North Korea was on May 29th, when they fired a short-range ballistic missile. It flew approximately 450 kilometers before falling into the Sea of Japan, 300 kilometers from the Japanese islands.Today's launch marks the fourth missile test by North Korea since Moon took office as South Korean president on May 10.
Nearly a week ago, the UN Security Council adopted new sanctions against North Korea. On May 30, the US successfully tested an interceptor on an intercontinental ballistic missile. North Korea called the US move a "dangerous provocation" and said its nuclear weapons would be unstoppable.
