According to the news agency, the test launch of the KN-11 missile from a North Korean submarine took place between 2:20 and 2:40 a.m. (5:40 a.m. GMT) in the East Sea. However, the missile fell into the sea.
According to the official quoted, the missile debris floating on the water's surface proves the launch was a failure.
If the information is true, this would be Pyongyang's first SLBM test since May.
South Korea expressed deep concern over the launch, with President Park Geun-hye describing it as “a serious challenge” to South Korea’s national security and regional stability.
