North Korea released a white paper condemning the joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea.

A North Korean white paper, released on September 2nd, opposes the joint military exercises between the US and South Korea, calling them a product of Washington's "abhorrent" hostile policy against Pyongyang.

According to the white paper, the North Korean military mission at the Panmunjom truce village emphasized the annual US-South Korea joint military exercise called "Ulchi Freedom Guardian."It's nothing short of a rehearsal for a preemptive nuclear strike on Pyongyang. "Ulchi Freedom Guardian" began two weeks ago and is scheduled to end today.

"If they continue to use military exercises and nuclear war drills against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, they will face the most disastrous and painful outcome," North Korean news agency KCNA quoted the white paper as saying.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have recently escalated following Pyongyang's repeated nuclear weapons and ballistic missile tests, as well as the annual joint military exercises between Washington and Seoul starting on August 22nd.
