North Korea's white paper, released on September 2, denounced the joint military exercises between the US and South Korea, calling them a product of Washington's "heinous" hostile policy against Pyongyang.
According to the white paper, the North Korean military mission at the Panmunjom truce village emphasized the annual US-South Korea joint military exercise called "Ulchi Freedom Guardian".It is nothing less than a rehearsal for a preemptive nuclear strike on Pyongyang. "Ulchi Freedom Guardian" began two weeks ago and is scheduled to end today.
"If they continue to resort to military exercises and nuclear war drills against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, they will face the most miserable and miserable end," the white paper said, quoted by the North Korean news agency KCNA.
Tensions on the Korean peninsula have recently increased after Pyongyang repeatedly tested nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles as well as Washington and Seoul's annual joint military exercises since August 22.
