Three men arrested for stealing steel on the highway
Seeing that the highway drainage ditch had steel bars installed, the group of thieves used crowbars to pry open and steal nearly a ton.
On October 14, Cam Pha City Police (Quang Ninh) announced that they had decided to prosecute Nguyen Van Thu (46 years old, residing in Ha Long City), Le Duc Nhat (32 years old) and Ly Tai Tuan (28 years old, both residing in Hoanh Bo District) to investigate the act of property theft.

According to the investigation agency, at around 2:00 a.m. on October 3, this group brought crowbars on a 2.5-ton truck to the Ha Long - Van Don expressway to steal steel. When they arrived at Duong Huy commune, Cam Pha city, they saw that the expressway drainage ditch had installed steel bars, so the group used crowbars to pry off nearly a ton of V-shaped steel bars from Licogi 16 Joint Stock Company.
The group continued to Quang Huy Company's warehouse nearby and met Mr. Tran Van Chiem (security guard) and asked to buy the scraps that were left outside. Mr. Chiem sold eight iron drill bits, a roll of B40 steel mesh, and a winch base, all used, for 500,000 VND.
On October 4, when discovered, Mr. Chiem reported to the police that the group of thieves had beaten and threatened him to take away the above property. The police detained Mr. Chiem to investigate his act of assisting the group in stealing property.
