Taking advantage of the TH farm in the area, the high demand for cattle feed, and the abundant supply of fertilizer, farmers in Nghia Dan have converted their less productive rice fields to corn cultivation for livestock. Previously, rice production was only one crop per year, yielding an income of about 16 million VND/hectare/year. Now, by producing corn for sale to TH cattle, they can earn approximately 32-36 million VND/hectare per crop, or over 100 million VND/hectare per year.
With nearly 90 hectares of land planted with corn, farmers in Nghia Thinh commune introduced the P4199 corn variety during the recent winter-spring season. The harvested corn yielded an average of over 40 tons per hectare.

This is the third year that people in Nghia Thinh commune have planted three corn crops per year. To ensure product sales, the commune government has signed a contract to sell raw corn to TH Milk Joint Stock Company. This year's winter-spring corn crop saw 100% of corn-growing households register to sell raw corn to TH Milk Joint Stock Company.
In the communes of Nghia Duc, Nghia Khanh, Nghia Loc, Nghia An, Nghia Tan, Nghia Lien, and Nghia Hung, more than 700 hectares have been allocated for planting suitable maize varieties, mainly on alluvial land and double-cropped rice land.

Mr. Truong Minh Hoai, Head of the Agriculture Department of Nghia Dan district, added: The district People's Committee has transformed the crop structure, linking it with the business activities of enterprises, forming a closed chain. In particular, converting low-yield rice to corn cultivation is an effective approach.
In the spring of 2016, Nghia Dan district planted 1,200 hectares of corn to be sold as feed for dairy cows of TH Milk Joint Stock Company. With the advantage of a relatively large and suitable land area, corn has been identified as the main crop after rice in this district.
