Within just a few hours, the headquarters of the People's Committee of three communes in Nam Dong district, Thua Thien-Hue province, were broken into by thieves who broke open safes and stole money.

On the afternoon of October 11th, the Nam Dong District Police (Thua Thien-Hue province) announced that they are making every effort to investigate and clarify the series of thefts that occurred at three commune People's Committee offices in the area.

Accordingly, in the early morning of October 9th, thieves broke into the Thượng Long Commune People's Committee office, then broke the lock on the Accounting office with the intention of stealing property.

The safe in the accounting office of the Thượng Long commune People's Committee was broken into and money stolen.

Mr. Tran Van Tri, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Long commune, said that because the incident occurred on a Sunday (October 9th), when commune officials were off work, the incident was only discovered when a resident reported it. Upon inspection, the commune found that a hole had been drilled in the safe in the Accounting office, and the 58.9 million VND contained inside had disappeared.

At the same time as the theft at the People's Committee of Thuong Long commune, the People's Committees of Thuong Quang and Huong Huu communes (Nam Dong district) were also broken into. The safes at these two communes were also pried open from the back, but fortunately no money was stolen.

Upon receiving the report, the Nam Dong District Police arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. They determined that the perpetrator of the theft used gloves and employed a highly professional method of breaking into the safe.
