In 2012, the Obama administration issued Presidential Policy Directive 20, which regulates the actions of US agencies in the event of the use of cyber weapons against the country's enemies.

As the newspaper recalls, the contents of the document remained secret until 2013 when former National Security Agency employee Edward Snowdenhas released a series of secret documents relating to US and British intelligence operations.

According to the newspaper's sources, Trump's decision eases restrictions on cyber attacks.

According to the newspaper, the repeal of the directives is believed to support military operations, prevent foreign interference in elections and theft of intellectual property. The newspaper's anonymous interlocutor from the administration called it a "move forward."
